YSL lady, where are you now?

Hedi Slimane has been causing quite a stir since his remarkable arrival at fashion powerhouse Saint Laurent Paris (Yves Saint Laurent for the intimates, as you will forever be in our hearts Yves) and it would be a shame not to discuss the subject. *Sigh*. Here I am still wondering what my feelings really are towards the changes being made to, what used to be, a brand that showcased a classy and powerful women in all her feminity. However, i'm still sitting here wondering where the YSL lady has gone? Let's just take a step back and consider the drastic changes that have been made since Slimane's arrival.

June 21st 2012 is the day everything changed. The fashion industry was in complete utter shock when word came out Hedi Slimane was to rename Yves Saint Laurent to Saint Laurent Paris. As many have said and continue to say... ''Ain't no Laurent without Yves''. How can one change the name of such a powerful brand that is recognized through it's famous initials YSL? *Sigh*

Just looking at these runway shots of the Saint Laurent Fall 2013 show leave me open-mouthed in front of my computer. I remember when I first saw the shots from this show, I was literally flabbergasted when I realized this was really the Saint Laurent show. Did I miss something here or did Slimane literally cut through the roots of the Fashion House in order to present to us a women in doted tights, hot pants and a leather bra? I would of loved to see Anna Wintour's face when the first model walked out.

When I first saw these advertisements, I didn't quite know what to think. Although the shots are brilliant individually, I'm not sure what Slimane was trying to accomplish here by bringing in Marilyn Manson and Courtney Love, two of the 90's most controversial artists, to showcase the brand's latest collection. These new advertisements made it clear that the YSL lady was long gone and that Saint Laurent would now become a neo-grunge inspired brand. Don't get me wrong however that Slimane has a very provocative and interesting marketing approach but there are things you cannot change to such an iconic brand as for instance, it's soul.

Bravo Slimane! Cara Delevigne for Saint Laurent is the best of both world's when it comes to showcasing a classy yet grunge inspired brand, what YSL should really be if it we're rebranding properly. It is quite clear that i'm beginning a serious love affair with Cara. I mean, she is such a brilliant model/person in all her goofyness, it's impossible not to love her.

Yves, I hope your not awake in your grave just yet! We love you, and forever will.

DKNY: Resort 2014

Let's just take a moment and admire this splendid Resort 2014 collection by DKNY. I have to admit I immediatly thought this was 3.1 Philip Lim's lookbook because of the chic streetstyle influence clearly translating itself within the clothes. My jaw nearly dropped when I realized Donna Karan was the mastermind behind these amazing crochet maxi dresses and gold leather bomber jackets. These days, i've been obsessing over the constant evolution of streetwear. Clearly, sporty silhouettes are dominating in the industry and feminine touches such as lace are now a simple accent. To be quite honest, it's the perfect balance and I hope it won't change anytime soon. I just find myself wanting every piece of this collection because it would give me a reason to incorporate glam materials into my everyday life without even worrying a single bit of being overdressed. I mean, is there anything sexier than sweatpants paired with a transparent top and a loose blazer? No.

The first look on the left is killer and makes me want to start wearing sweatpants everyday of my life. I assisted a fashion shoot a year ago and couldn't help but notice the stylist kept going back to the sweatpants and heels look in every board. I wasn't quite fond of the style back then but now you would need to be blind not to see the influence of this particular style. On the right, this mesh bomber inspired jacket is giving me chills by the coolness of it. Who wouldn't want to pair it with boyfriend jeans for an everyday look, it's just the type of piece you need in your closet... even if it's simply to admire it.

It is clear to me that my love for DKNY has grown tremendously over the past years by the new era the company seems to have taken hold of. With that said, thank you Donna Karan for taking me back to the roots of New York fashion, i've fallen back in love.

It was like James Dean, for sure

It's impossible to ignore the return of the blue jeans trend that everyone seems to be adopting. It's the kind of trend that gets you quite excited since you now have an excuse to wear jeans every single day of your life. The mix of light denim and a transparent blouse is so chic in all it's simplicity, it just gives you a feeling you can't get enough of.

cliche beginnings

Cliche. What a fine word to describe the passion which occupies every single brain cell of mine twenty-four hours a day. I've been going back and forth in my mind trying to fight my sudden urge to start writing a fashion blog. The only thing holding me back was the fear that my blog would probably end up being, yet another, cliche fashion blog about a girl's love affair with fashion that seems to more particularly affect her finances and her social needs. However, here I am finally taking the plunge and dedicating some of my time to share my thoughts and inspirations with whom ever is interested about this passion of mine that keeps growing every single day of my life. Oh and... I do have a love affair with fashion, but most particularly with the industry itself that truly fascinates me.

As a first post, I had no idea what to do at first but in the end, I decided to go back to the main essence that drove me to fashion: photography. A friend of mine accepted to model for me in order to accomplish this little creative session which would end of being my very first post. Yesterday's awful weather forced us to take indoor photographs which quickly turned out to be simple portraits. My inspiration originally came from my hours of browsing on Terry's diary (here) which is Terry Richardson's photography diary. However, my ideas quickly diverged into another world which I strangely seem to always come back to...

And here we go, I truly hope you enjoy.
